Daily Spark privacy policy

Daily Spark is a home-screen quote widget for Android, iPhone and iPad. It is built to keep everything on your device.
What the app collects
Nothing. The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. The store build does not request the internet permission and makes no network requests of its own.
What stays on your phone
Your settings, starred lines, your own lines and whether Pro is unlocked are stored only on your device. Uninstalling the app removes them. The app opts out of Android's cloud backup.
On Android 12 and later, a direct phone-to-phone transfer during setup of a new phone may still copy this data to your new phone. That transfer runs between your own devices; the developer is not involved.
Saving your lines to a file
In Settings you can save your own lines and starred lines to a file, and import them later. You choose where the file goes through the system file picker. That can include a cloud folder you use, in which case that service's own privacy terms apply. The app itself does not connect to the internet to do this.
Permissions
The release build requests:
- Run at startup (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) and wake lock, so the widget refreshes on schedule. - Foreground service and view network connections (
FOREGROUND_SERVICE,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE). These come from Android's WorkManager library, which schedules the refresh. The app does not use them to go online. - Google Play billing, for the Pro purchase.
Purchases
On Android, the one-time Pro unlock is sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy. The app only learns whether the purchase exists, and keeps that answer on the device so Pro works offline. The developer never sees your payment details.
On iPhone and iPad
The app on iPhone and iPad keeps the same promise: no account, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no data leaves your device. It makes no network requests of its own; the only network traffic is the App Store's, for the purchase.
- The Pro purchase. On iPhone and iPad the Pro unlock is a one-time in-app purchase through the App Store, made with your App Store account. Apple handles the payment, the receipt and refunds. The app asks the App Store whether the purchase exists, and Restore purchase asks it again. It keeps only a "Pro unlocked" flag on the device, never the purchase record or any account data.
- What stays on your device. Your settings, chosen packs, starred lines and the Pro flag are kept in the app's own storage. The widget's current line, rotation and look, and the lines you write, are kept in storage the app shares only with its own widget. The built-in packs ship inside the app.
- Backups. Nothing in the app excludes this data from backup, so iOS may include it in your iCloud or computer backup, under your Apple account. The developer never receives it. Uninstalling the app deletes it from the device.
- Saving your lines to a file. With Pro, you can save your own and starred lines to a file you pick in the Files dialog, and load them back. The file goes only where you choose.
- Writing to us. In Settings, About, "Write to us" opens your own mail app with a new email to support@kalaganov.dev and the app's name and version as the subject. Nothing is sent until you send it yourself. If no mail app opens, the address is copied to your clipboard.
Content
The quotes are in the public domain. In the classics, poets and wisdom packs, every line is quoted word for word from an edition published on or before 1930, and from a translation only where its translator died on or before 1955; each line names its author and the book it comes from. The scripture pack quotes the World English Bible, which its translators dedicated to the public domain, with chapter and verse. The affirmation packs are written for Daily Spark: they are the app's own text, not quotations, and name no author.
Children
The app is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new date.
