Breathe Easy is a breathing-exercise timer for Android, Wear OS, iPhone and Apple Watch. It is built so that nothing leaves your phone. This page says exactly what that means.
If you use the Apple Watch or Wear OS app, your Pro status, custom breathing pattern, colour theme and preparation length are sent to your own watch. On Wear OS, when Bluetooth is unavailable, Google's Wear OS data layer relays this end-to-end encrypted. No other data is sent and the app has no internet permission.
What the app collects
Nothing. The app has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no server of its own. It does not collect, store or transmit personal data, usage data, device identifiers or location.
What stays on your phone
Your settings (chosen practice, custom rhythm, sound and colour themes, volume, preparation length), the total minutes you have practised, and whether Pro is unlocked are saved in the app's private storage on your phone. They are excluded from Android's cloud backup; Android's own phone-to-phone transfer can copy them to your new phone when you move to one. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Daily reminder
The daily reminder is optional and off until you switch it on; only then does the app ask for permission to show notifications. It is a local notification scheduled on your phone: no data leaves the device, and there is no push service and no push token.
Writing to us
In Settings, writing to support copies the support address to your clipboard and opens your own mail app with support@kalaganov.dev filled in and the app's name and version as the subject. Nothing is sent until you send the email yourself. If no mail app opens, the app tells you the address was copied.
The Pro purchase
On Android, the one-time Pro unlock is sold through Google Play. The payment, the receipt and the refund process are handled entirely by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service. The app only asks Google Play whether the purchase exists and keeps the answer on the device. The developer never sees your name, payment details or address.
Permissions
On your phone:
- Notifications, foreground service, wake lock: so a session keeps running with the screen locked and shows Pause and Stop on the lock screen. Notifications also show the daily reminder, if you switch it on.
- Run at startup: to schedule the daily reminder again after the phone restarts or the app is updated.
- Alarms and reminders: lets the reminder arrive on time where Android grants this without asking: on Android 12 and 13, or on Android 14 and later if you turn on "Alarms & reminders" for the app yourself. The app never asks for it; without it the reminder may arrive up to about an hour late.
- Vibration: the haptic cues at each breathing phase.
- Google Play billing: the Pro purchase.
- Network state: added by Google Play's billing library; it only tells whether the phone is online and gives the app no network access.
On your Wear OS watch:
- Vibration: the haptic cue at each breathing phase, on your wrist.
- Keep awake: keeps the haptic cues on time while the watch screen dims. It is held only while a session runs and released when you pause or end it.
- Foreground service: keeps the session going when the screen dims or you lower your wrist, and shows it on the watch face as an ongoing activity you can tap to return to.
- Notifications: Wear OS shows that ongoing session through a notification. The app asks once, before the first session.
Neither the phone app nor the watch app declares the Internet permission: they cannot open a network connection of their own.
On iPhone and Apple Watch
The iPhone app keeps the same promise: no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no server, and no data leaves your devices. It makes no network requests of its own; the only network traffic is the App Store's, for the purchase.
- The Pro purchase. On iPhone the Pro unlock is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, the receipt and refunds under Apple's privacy policy; the app only asks the App Store whether the purchase exists and keeps the answer on the device.
- Your settings are kept in the app's standard storage on the iPhone. Nothing in the app excludes them from backup, so iOS includes them in your iCloud or computer backup and moves them to a new iPhone; they reach no one else. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
- Apple Watch app. The iPhone sends the watch four things over Apple's direct link between your paired devices (WatchConnectivity): whether Pro is unlocked, your custom rhythm, your colour theme and your preparation length. Nothing about you goes the other way (the watch only asks for the latest state), and nothing goes through a server. The watch remembers the last practice you started on it.
- Live Activity and Dynamic Island. During a session iOS shows the practice, the current phase and the time left, taken from the session running on your iPhone.
- Daily reminder. The same optional reminder as on Android: off until you switch it on, and only then does iOS ask for permission to show notifications. It is scheduled on the phone; there is no push service and no push token.
- Siri, Shortcuts and the Action button. "Start breathing" opens the app and starts a session on the device.
- Widgets. The home-screen, lock-screen and watch-face widgets only open the app into a session. They show no data of yours.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date. Since the app collects nothing, a change would only ever describe a new feature's data handling before that feature ships.
